Dispensing System: Reducing maintenance requirements in dispensing applications

Traditional rotary valve dispensing systems suffer from one primary drawback: they rapidly become clogged during use. This affects all dispensing system manufacturers who need to dispense abrasive and viscous fluid materials. An older rotary valve dispensing system is troublesome and expensive to use, as frequent cleaning is required to avoid damage and performance degradation.

Termed “Disposable Material Path™” (DMP), this technology introduces a consumable aspect to material to the dispensing system. This type of dispensing system is achieved by incorporating a disposable feed screw (auger), which makes the component, that is exposed to the dispense material, a low-cost disposable item.

Cleaning is no longer a burdensome task and the dispensing system users no longer have to spend money cleaning and repairing their auger valves, or have “hot spares” in stock to cover downtime.

Another problem found in a traditional rotary valve dispensing system is materials can be abrasive and tend to cause scoring, to the feed screw, over time. This leads to degradation in accuracy and performance of the dispensing system. As a result, the dispensing system feed screw has to be removed and replaced regulary. Dispensing systems with DMP technology reduce these problems. As material build-up starts to occur or dispense performance begins to degrade, dispensing system users replace the old feed path with a new one, reducing change-over costs and downtime, because optimum dispense performance is always maintained, accurate and reliable dispensing is achieved.
